experts suggest that you look away from the screen every 20
minutes. It's time to get outside and breathe fresh air.
Vision care is
necessary, we should never neglect it, especially people who spend a lot of time
in front of a monitor, either for work or relaxation. Let's see how these 10
tips will be very useful in your daily life:
01. REST EVERY CERTAIN TIME
Take breaks from time to time.
For example, a 5 minute break every hour.
02. COVER YOUR EYES WITH YOUR HANDS
To rest your eyes, cover
them with your hands and open them to look into the dark. This relaxes the view
more than just closing them. Another exercise that you can use is to alternate
your view between a near and far object.
03. MONITOR BRIGHTNESS
Set the monitor brightness to the
lowest possible level that you are comfortable with. To counteract this, set
the contrast as high as possible that you are comfortable with.
04. BLINK
Remember to blink. It seems silly but due to
concentration we tend to do it much less than normal. The average blink rate in
an adult is about 20 times per minute, while when we use a computer, the rate
drops to 5 per minute. If you still notice that you have dry eyes, you can also
use eye drops. Consult with your ophthalmologist or pharmacist.
05. ENOUGH LIGHT
Make sure there is enough light. Much
better if it is natural. Of course, keep in mind that excess light can also be
harmful.
06. AVOID REFLEXES
It is important to take into account the
position of the monitor with respect to light sources and avoid glossy monitors
such as Dell's TrueLife or Apple's Glossy Displays. These displays have a
highly reflective glossy finish. They are also usually more expensive than
their matte finish counterparts.
07. REMOTE MONITOR
Keep the monitor about 60 centimeters
away.
08. TFT-LCD
If possible, use a TFT-LCD type monitor. They
are much less eye strain than CRTs.
09. RAISE THE MONITOR COOL
If you have no choice but to use
a CRT, or if you prefer it because of your work, make sure to turn the screen
refresh to the maximum possible.
10. PRINT YOUR
EXTENSIVE TEXTS
Do not commit the madness of using the computer to read books,
manuals, or any other type of long document; print it out.
